Family

Families, big or small, are complex and fascinating.  Or so we tend to think, at least about our own family.  The history of families can be a challenge to discover. There is no small family.  Migration and emigration, chasing better, more secure lives dispersed my family over Scotland and the world.   More frustrating is loss of the connections to the tantalising photographic evidence seen here but sadly cloaked by the passage of time and the failure to record the names and relationships of the people.

Photos from Ducat family album – people and dates unknown.

Without names or dates linking the folk in these images is a real challenge.

The only clues are the names and location of photographers.

After that we are left guessing, trying to link the faces photos taken over the years.

The significance of this landscape photo is lost except that Lethnot is in the county now known as Angus, near where family ancestry has been traced.
